Summary:
Submits billing to specific payers for services rendered accurately, timely, and in compliance with federal, state, and payer specific regulations.

Minimum Education
a. High school graduate with business or accounting emphasis
b. Associate degree in business or accounting preferred

Minimum Work Experience
a. Two (2) years healthcare patient accounting experience and one (1) year of medical billing experience preferably in a hospital setting
b. Experience and knowledge of electronic claim submission software
c. Experience and knowledge of Medicare DDE software preferred
d. Knowledge of federal, state, and payer specific regulations for “clean claim” submission
e. General knowledge of CPT and ICD9CM codes for claim submission
f. General knowledge of managed care contracts and reimbursement methodologies
g. General understanding of revenue cycle and accounts receivable
h. Knowledge of Medicare OPPS and Correct Coding Initiatives preferred
i. PC software experience and knowledge helpful (i.e.: Excel, Word, etc.).

Required Skills and Knowledge
a. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with those contacted in the course of work
b. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and financial records
c. Analytical and problem solving skills for claim correction and account resolution
d. Ability to make good decisions, think independently, and work as a team player
e. Working knowledge of computers, calculators, and other equipment used in a professional setting
f. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
