Billing Engineer

Role Summary

The Billing Engineer will be responsible for managing and monitoring project billing activities, preparing client and subcontractor bills, verifying site quantities, maintaining measurement records, coordinating with site teams, and ensuring accurate and timely billing as per contract terms. The role requires strong knowledge of civil construction, measurement techniques, contract management, and project documentation.

Key Responsibilities1. Billing & Documentation

• Prepare client bills, subcontractor bills, and RA (Running Account) bills as per project timelines.
• Prepare and verify quantity take-off (BOQ) from drawings and site measurements.
• Maintain MB (Measurement Book) and ensure accurate quantity records.
• Cross-verify contractor bills with site progress and approved drawings.
• Prepare extra item / deviation / escalation bills as required.

2. Quantity Verification & Cost Control

• Conduct site measurement verification in coordination with the site execution team.
• Track and monitor material consumption, cost variations, and project budget updates.
• Analyze discrepancies between planned vs actual quantities and report deviations.

3. Contract & Compliance

• Ensure billing is aligned with contractual terms, tender specifications, and quality standards.
• Review contract documents, BOQs, and drawings to understand billing requirements.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, and contractors for approvals and clarifications.

4. Coordination & Reporting

• Liaise with project managers, site engineers, procurement, and accounts for smooth billing workflow.
• Prepare and maintainMIS reports, bill status reports, and progress updates.
• Support project planning with relevant measurement and quantity data.

5. Software & Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and ERP (SAP/Oracle/other).
• Knowledge of IS codes, civil construction standards, and measurement methodologies.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings (architectural, structural, and services).

Key Requirements

• B.E./B.Tech (Civil) or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience as a billing engineer in civil construction projects (site-based).
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Experience with high-rise buildings/industrial/infra projects (customize as needed).
• Ability to work with site teams and meet strict billing deadlines.
