General Description

The Mental Health Billing Specialist is responsible for managing billing, claims processing, payment posting, and related administrative functions for outpatient mental health services provided by Greater Richmond SCAN.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience with mental health billing required. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals.

Major Responsibilities (25 hours per week)

  • Maintain mental health services client lists by program
  • Obtain client insurance information and HIPAA releases for billing
  • Verify, maintain, and enter client information related to billing in Therapy Notes for mental health services across the organization
  • Maintain mental health services billing (tracking session data, request any missing information, submission of claims & reconciling revenue deposits).
  • Track outstanding accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims
  • Coordinate credentialing of all new therapists for all insurance companies SCAN partners with for billing
  • Assist in creating Child Advocacy Center/Trauma Focused Treatment services weekly and monthly reports, tracking service goals, and data retrieval
  • Assist in obtaining and monitoring Circle Preschool tuition payments and how they are being fulfilled (subsidy, private pay, grant provided, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with all contracts relating to invoicing and reimbursements for tuition and billable services across the agency
  • Ensure timely submission of contract invoices and reports related to trauma assessments, foster care subsidy payments, CACFP, etc.

Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
