Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced BIM Manager and Plumbing Designer to lead our building information modeling initiatives and develop innovative plumbing systems for diverse projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in mechanical engineering, CAD drafting, and system design, with a focus on integrating BIM workflows into construction and manufacturing processes. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex projects that require technical precision, creative problem-solving, and leadership in digital modeling.

Lead the implementation, management, and strategic development of Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems for the Building Services Group. Play a key role in overseeing and coordinating the digital delivery of projects from conception to completion. The BIM Manager shall be responsible for ensuring that project models are completed on time, within scope, and in adherence to ECF’s quality standards. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and effective communication to manage various aspects of MEP (HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing) engineering projects.

The Plumbing Designer responsibilities shall assist senior-level engineers in plumbing system design, water conservation strategies, and building system integration. Designs shall comply with the Florida Building Code and relevant industry standards (e.g., ASPE). The role involves performing engineering calculations, creating design drawings, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. This position will also require the designer to act as the department lead CAD drafter

Responsibilities:

BIM Leadership & Management

  • Managerial Discipline: Establish and maintain departmental BIM standards and templates to ensure consistency across projects.
  • Model Health:Oversee model health and data integrity, performing regular audits to ensure optimal performance.
  • Strategic Execution:Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination meetings, acting as the primary project advocate for digital delivery.

Technical Coordination & Execution

  • Clash Detection:Execute complex clash detection workflows (utilizing Navisworks) to resolve conflicts before construction.
  • Content Creation: Build and manage complex parametric families and content libraries.
  • Project Support:Troubleshoot software issues and provide immediate technical support to minimize downtime.

Project Resource & Schedule Management

  • Resource Prioritization: Advocate for internal resource prioritization regarding hardware and software needs.
  • Scheduling: Utilize coordination tools to control and communicate project progress.

Project Communication

  • Facilitate communication between the client and the project team, ensuring that client needs and expectations are met. Additionally, facilitate internal project communications across all departmental disciplines.

Plumbing Design

  • Develop plumbing system designs, including layouts, schematics, and details, using AutoCAD software.
  • Prepare construction documents, including drawings and specifications, for plumbing systems.
  • Perform calculations for pipe sizing, fixture selection, and other design parameters.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, such as architectural, structural, and mechanical, to ensure integrated and efficient designs.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design documents and specifications.
  • Conduct field surveys and site visits to gather existing conditions information and verify design intent.
  • Stay up to date on current plumbing codes, standards, and technologies.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and fee estimates.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in plumbing system design and drafting.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software is required. Experience with Revit MEP is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing codes and standards, such as the Florida Building Codes (IPC/UPC and Plumbing).
  • Knowledge of plumbing system components and equipment, including fixtures, piping, pumps, and water heaters.
  • Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and size plumbing systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Expertise in Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks, and BIM collaboration platforms (ACC/BIM 360).
  • Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software (MSOffice tools preferred); ability to learn/utilize other applications.

Pay: Up to $93,000.00 per year
