BIM Mechanical Engineer

Role Purpose

The BIM Mechanical Engineer is responsible for developing and coordinating mechanical building systems within the BIM environment. The role ensures that mechanical models and drawings are accurate, fully coordinated with other disciplines, and meet project standards and timelines.

Key Accountabilities

• Participate in implementing technical office policies and procedures.
• Study the project contract documents (time schedule, project design drawings, BOQ, etc.).
• Update the shop drawing log before sending the shop drawing to the consultant for approval.
• Study and prepare requests for information (RFIs) for all missing, unclear, conflicting, or other technical matters that may arise during construction.
• Review sub-contractors’ shop drawings as well as outsourced shop drawings (if any) and coordinate their approval process with the project consultant.
• Participate in solving/reporting any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may arise during construction to the Technical Office Senior engineer for discussion and proper solution.
• Prepare as-built drawings at the end of the project and handover to the project consultant.
• Professional use of BIM authoring and BIM Tools to create complete and accurate information models. Hence to enrich BIM models with crucial data and information.
• Run clash detection analyses to identify potential conflicts between different systems.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3–6 years of experience in mechanical design and BIM modeling within the construction or MEP industry.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (MEP) and Navisworks .
• Familiarity with AutoCAD , BIM 360 / ACC , and coordination workflows.
• Solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting systems.
• Knowledge of BIM standards such as ISO 19650 or BIM Level 2 is preferred.
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills.
