BIM Modeler – MEP (Design Consultancy Experience)

Job Summary

The BIM Modeler – MEP supports MEP design teams by developing, coordinating, and managing detailed BIM models for building projects. The role focuses on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within a design consultancy environment, ensuring high-quality models, coordination across disciplines, and compliance with BIM standards throughout all project stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain BIM models for MEP systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and ELV systems
  • Translate MEP design concepts and calculations into accurate BIM models and coordinated drawings
  • Coordinate MEP models with architectural, structural, and other engineering disciplines
  • Perform clash detection and resolve design conflicts using BIM coordination tools
  • Prepare construction drawings, layouts, sections, schedules, and quantities from BIM models
  • Ensure models comply with project BIM Execution Plans (BEP), standards, and LOD requirements
  • Support design development, authority submissions, and construction documentation stages
  • Incorporate design changes and maintain model accuracy throughout the project lifecycle
  • Participate in coordination meetings and technical reviews
  • Maintain organized model structures, naming conventions, and shared parameters

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or related field)
  • 3–7 years of BIM modeling experience in MEP design consultancy environments
  • Strong proficiency in BIM software such as Revit MEP and Navisworks
  • Solid understanding of MEP design principles, codes, and standards
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary building projects
  • Ability to interpret MEP design drawings, specifications, and calculations

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with large-scale commercial, residential, healthcare, or mixed-use projects
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, BS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of BIM coordination workflows, clash resolution, and model audits
  • Experience with Dynamo, automation, or BIM collaboration platforms (BIM 360 / ACC)
  • Strong communication, coordination, and time-management skills

  • Exposure to all design stages from concept to construction
