St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has established an expansive and multicomponent initiative in translational neuroscience with a mission to understand and treat catastrophic childhood neurological disease. This initiative integrates basic and clinical neuroscience and partners with industry and foundations to develop and implement novel therapies. The Center for Pediatric Neurological Disease Research (CPNDR) is the basic science component of PTNI and seeks a Bioinformatics analyst to assist CPNDR faculty with a range of bioinformatics support.
We are seeking an individual with bioinformatics and human genetics expertise who has an interest in neurological disease research. This individual will leverage available state-of-the-art tools and technBioinformatics Analyst Position-Center for Pediatric Neurological Disease Researchology to enhance existing bioinformatics capabilities within CPNDR. Specific areas of focus include bulk and single-cell transcriptomics from patient cells, organoids, and animal models for rare disease gene discovery, analysis of patient disease mutations, and comparisons across disorders. Experience with multiple sequencing platforms including both short- and long-read sequencing is preferred. Bioinformatic approaches to identify targetable regions of the genome for therapeutic strategies, and the management and integration of multi-omics data (DNA/RNA/methylation) are also areas of interest. Additionally, experience in the creation and/or management of GUI applications/databases for storage of sequencing results from various multi-omic applications and management of clinical datasets from various sources would be an advantage.

Job Responsibilities:

Evaluate data for quality assurance and mine relevant (e.g., bioinformatics, biomedical, cheminformatics) databases.

Perform basic analysis, algorithm implementation, programming, and quality check on data to be loaded into biomedical database.

Assist in adopting new and improved tools and web-based applications.

Assist in the evaluation of products and solutions pertaining to St. Jude's technology needs, in maintaining databases or data warehouse and project reports.

Work with stakeholder s(e.g., HPFC, IS, vendors) to ensure tools are up to date and maintain databases.

Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, cheminformatics, statistics/computer science (with a background in biological sciences or chemistry) or related field.

Master's degree with no previous experience.
Minimum Experience:

Minimum Requirement: 2+ years of relevant experience required.

Experience Exception: Master's degree and no experience.

Experience in at least one programming or scripting language and at least one statistical package, with R preferred.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Bioinformatics Analyst Position-Center for Pediatric Neurological Disease Research.
