The BI&T Development Data Scientist Analyst position at Bristol Myers Squibb, as part of the Development Data & Analytics team offers a dynamic and meaningful career focused on advancing patient care through innovative data science solutions. The role involves designing and deploying advanced analytics, collaborating with stakeholders, and applying predictive modeling and machine learning to large and diverse datasets. The Development Data Scientist Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting study clinical operational analytics across Drug Development to ensure products continue to serve most pressing DD analytics needs, with opportunities to build new advanced analytics capabilities such as predictive modelling, simulation, and optimization. The Development Data Scientist Analyst should have a strong interest in solving business problems, and an eagerness to work on all parts of the analytics value chain, from partnering with IT on data pipelines to operationalizing predictive models in the service of our patients around the world.

Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on Development Data Scientist Analyst that will be expected to ideate, design, develop, model and deploy advanced solutions
  • Conduct analysis and interpretation of complex data sets to derive meaningful insights and recommendations based on an understanding of Drug Development priorities, critical issues, and value levers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business problems, goals, and KPIs to design, establish and maintain data pipelines, models and business facing reports and dashboards.
  • Agile problem-solving ability and desire to learn new things and continuously improve
  • Project management skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Understanding of digital analytics tools and platforms and version control.
  • Gather, pre-process and explore large-scale structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.
  • Apply advanced statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms and predictive modelling techniques to extract insights and develop models that drive actionable recommendations
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns and anomalies in the data and propose solutions to business problems
  • Develop and implement predictive models (e.g., regression, clustering, time series forecasting) to solve complex business challenges
  • Collaborate with data engineers and IT teams to ensure data availability, quality, and reliability for analysis and modeling
  • Communicate complex analytical findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear and compelling visualizations, reports and presentations
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as React or Power BI for effective communication of findings
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively to tackle complex business challenges
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience:
  • B achelor's or Master's degree in an analytical, engineering, operations research or scientific discipline.
  • Proven experience (typically 2-4 years) in a data and analytics role, including direct development experience.
  • Experience working with large datasets, data visualization tools, statistical software packages and platforms (specifically React, Python, advanced SQL, Domino, AWS, GitHub, dbt)
  • Strong background in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modelling techniques
  • Experience in handling and analyzing large-scale structured and unstructured data sets using SQL or similar technologies
  • Experience with building and deploying data science and data engineering solutions using established industry methods (MLOps,Git) to Complex datasets is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms
  • Experience working with complex datasets is highly desirable

Compensation Overview:

Princeton - NJ - US: $87,810 - $106,399

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
