What you will do-
Performs a variety of clerical duties to assist clinical personnel in Transfusion Services.
- Receives, screens, and routes department telephone calls, and provides informational assistance.
- Dispenses blood product according to Transfusion Services protocol and guidelines.
- Follows established procedures for quality control, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.
- Performs other job functions as requested or assigned (less than 10% of time).
Education/Formal Training Requirements-
Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience Requirements-
Preferred - No prior work experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-
Proficient in use of basic office equipment; multi-line phones; and data entry.
- Good organizational skills with ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proven record of providing excellent customer service.
Supervision Provided by this Position-
There are no lead or supervisory responsibilities assigned to this position.
Physical Demands-
The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are light to medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- Exposure to blood products.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
