Position Title: Board Certified/Board Eligible Otolaryngologist (Otology Specialist)
Location: Oklahoma City VA Health Care System
Schedule: 0.3 FTE – typically scheduled every other week; clinic and OR days per VA schedule
Overview:
The Otology Specialist provides advanced medical and surgical management of disorders of the ear and related structures, including hearing and balance issues. The physician will deliver outpatient and surgical care to veterans, maintaining a high standard of quality consistent with national otolaryngology standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnose and manage auditory, vestibular, and otologic diseases.
Perform surgical procedures including tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy, stapedectomy, cochlear implantation, and bone-anchored hearing aid placement.
Provide comprehensive evaluation and management of chronic otitis media, cholesteatoma, and other ear pathologies.
Collaborate with audiology, neurology, and primary care providers for coordinated patient care.
Document all encounters in VA electronic health record systems.
Participate in infection control, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities.
Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Otolaryngology.
Fellowship training in Otology required.
Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. jurisdiction.
Proficiency in CPRS and VA documentation standards.
BLS and ACLS certification (current).
