Nestled just minutes away from Washington, DC, Prince George's County combines urban vibrancy with serene surroundings, offering an ideal setting to live, work, and enjoy life.BILINGUAL APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLYThe Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Body Worn Camera Technician Z (Public Safety Audio & Video Rec Tech Z) position grade Z21 , in the Bureau of Professional Accountability/ Planning, Research, CALEA Division.About the PositionThis position assists the Office of the Sheriff with managing body worn camera and in-car (MVR) equipment, the assignment of the devices, replacing worn/and or damaged equipment, assists with training the officers who wear and or use them and assist in the maintenance of body worn camera and in-car systems. This consists of managing all aspects of digital multimedia collected by body worn cameras and in-car to include receiving, cataloging, redacting, and maintaining custody of audio/video evidence collected and stored in a digital format. Under general supervision, incumbents apply procedures and techniques for the duplicating, editing and converting of audio and video materials and the use of various software packages and hardware for the preparation of documents, recordings, and graphics. Selected candidates assigned to this class are expected to work independently, within established legal guidelines, policies and procedures, applying knowledge and exercising judgment and initiative. Personal contact with individuals occurs daily.About the AgencyThe Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff has been a vital link in the criminal justice system for more than 300 years, providing the citizens of Prince George’s County with professional, transparent, and effective law enforcement service. The Office of the Sheriff serves as the law enforcement arm of the courts, responding to domestic violence calls, processing warrants, civil papers, domestic violence peace and protective orders, Emergency Psychiatric Petition (E.P.S.) orders, and the execution of evictions. The Office of the Sheriff is also responsible for court security, providing security and protection for visitors to our courthouses and securing courtrooms and holding areas. Deputies transport prisoners and are responsible for extraditing fugitives from other states.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
PROGRAM MANAGEMENTProvides administrative oversight and maintenance of the body-worn camera program.Responds to inquiries from department/agency personnel, courts, outside public safety agencies or the public regarding digital evidence.Reviews digital evidence, records and related documents for redaction and dissemination in compliance with agency policies, procedures, rules and regulations, federal, state, and local statutes and public records laws.Duplicates digital and analog media for use in trial support and discovery using high-speed duplicators and computer systems including all forms of media such as DVDs, CDs, flash drives and other related devices or media.Collaborates and consults with public safety agencies, the State's Attorney's Office (SAO), and the Office of Law (OOL) regarding the legality of information releases, the existence of records, record interpretation, and case preparation.ASSET MANAGEMENT Oversees asset management and inventory control of body worn camera, in-vehicle camera systems, and related Axon devices.Assigns and maintains an inventory of body-worn equipment (cameras, docking stations, cables, etc.), and its components.Coordinates installations of and provides front-line support for body worn and in-car cameras.Monitors body worn and in-car camera systems to ensure operating efficiently and to identify system failures.Assists end-users with troubleshooting basic technical equipment issues.LIAISON Serves as a liaison with information technology staff about resolving hardware, software, and equipment issues.Serves as a liaison with vendors and assists with the testing of new or updated body-worn camera equipment.TRAININGConducts agency training programs by serving as an instructor or facilitator.Participates in training that improves professional knowledge, skills, and abilities designed to facilitate agency goals and objectives.OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
