Bookeeper -Invoice and Payroll

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper with proven experience in invoicing, bank reconciliation, payroll, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate must have prior exposure to Canadian accounting practices (Ontario preferred) — or, at minimum, U.S. accounting and tax compliance experience.

Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and issue client invoices, record payments, and maintain up-to-date receivable and payable records.

Process and reconcile bank and credit card statements accurately and on time.

Categorize income and expense transactions properly to generate monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports.

Manage and record dividend calculations, expense allocations, and payroll entries.

Ensure compliance with Canadian provincial and federal tax regulations (HST, WSIB, CRA filing requirements).

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.

Support audits, data reviews, and financial reporting as needed.

Communicate with clients and internal departments to ensure accuracy and timely updates on billing or reconciliation issues.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum 3 years of professional accounting or bookkeeping experience.

Solid understanding of Canadian tax systems (Ontario preferred)

QuickBooks Desktop expertise is required (not QuickBooks Online).

Hands-on experience with invoicing, payroll processing, and bank reconciliation.

Strong knowledge of HST filing, WSIB calculations, CRA submissions, and financial reporting.

Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

Ability to handle multiple accounts and meet deadlines.

Strong communication skills for client coordination and reporting.
