Bookkeeper

Premier, award-winning, full-service Property Management Company located in Yuba City has an immediate opening for a property management bookkeeper.

The candidate we are seeking must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and experience in a fast-paced office. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of properties while contributing to a collaborative and professional work environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to teamwork.

Knowledge of accurate journal entries and GAAP Accounting Principles.

Property Management accounting software experience needed including AppFolio, CINC, and Yardi.

Summary: Responsible for general bookkeeping activities and practices in the office and participates in reviewing and appraising financial procedures and records by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains all related accounting and bookkeeping records and accounting files per Department of Real Estate guidelines.
  • Compiles, retrieves and updates accounting information on computer per monthly checklists.
  • Reviews, enters and submits A/P invoices and payable reports to Property Manager for approval.
  • Deposits funds to appropriate bank accounts either through Remote Deposit or taken to local banks.
  • Prepares and posts daily cash receipts to the appropriate account in computer and maintains checkbooks in Excel.
  • Completes journal entries and adjustments to the general ledger as needed.
  • Prepares owner draws per schedule for property owners.
  • Prepares and distributes routine financial statements on a monthly basis for approval prior to sending to owners or HOA BOD.
  • Prepares accounts payable checks for Property Manager and/or HOA Board signatures.
  • Maintains an accurate bookkeeping balance and reports any problems or discrepancies to management.
  • Completes required tax forms and meets deadlines in a timely, accurate fashion.
  • Operates standard office equipment efficiently to include telephone, Fax/Copier/Scanner, computer, printer and calculator.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Yardi experience preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of property management accounting software.

Education/Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A. / A. S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid California Driver's license is required.

  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • This is a 100% in-office position

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
