Bookkeeper Detailed Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to support our team as a part-time bookkeeper. As a bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of Silver Sprocket.

Experience with Quickbooks Online and prior bookkeeping experience is a must.

In this role, you will be responsible for recording transactions, handling accounts payable and receivable, recording payments to vendors and billing to customers, among other duties. Your keen eye for detail will be essential in identifying any discrepancies or errors in financial records, allowing for prompt resolution. Your expertise in bookkeeping software and spreadsheets will be utilized to generate financial reports and assist in budgeting and forecasting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and possess excellent organizational and time management skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are also crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Record and document financial transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assigning proper categories for all transactions in Quickbooks Online
  • Review uncategorized transactions
  • Reconcile bank and credit card transactions, Shopify merchants accounts, among other key accounts.
  • Monitor and manage incoming payments and deposits: includes verifying expenses and ensuring timely payment of invoices.
  • Collect and maintain receipts and financial documentation and records (business expenses and income) for audits, taxes, and financial reporting.
  • Identify and flag discrepancies or irregularities in financial activity.
  • Ensure that all sales transactions are accurately recorded and accounted from multiple distributors.
  • Create and compile financial reports to assist in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Balance the General Ledger against the reconciliation end balances and sub-ledger reports.
  • Generate end-of-year financial data reports summary presenting the business’s financial status and performance.
  • Process year end-data; verifying that prior year financials match the prior year’s tax return.
  • Work directly with our accountant to accurately and timely file W9s and 1099s as they are available.
  • File renewals of license, registration or reports to all city or federal related entities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with publisher finances
  • Enthusiasm for working in radical, worker-first organizations (worker cooperatives, union organizing, etc.)
  • Project management software experience
  • Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and exceedingly organized.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
