Bookkeeper

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced non-profit (preferred) Treasurer / Bookkeeper to manage and provide guidance on our church finances. You will manage accurate recording of financial transactions, maintain the integrity of our financial data, and support the preparation of financial reports, assisted by our Assistant Treasurers. Your expertise will ensure compliance with accounting standards and contribute to the overall financial health of our congregation.

Duties

• Record and process journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits and credits according to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to verify account balances.
• Maintain detailed records of payroll, tax filings, and other statutory requirements
• Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, and other reports to support decision-making by our Church Board.
• Conduct account analysis and general ledger accounting to identify discrepancies or irregularities
• Assist with budgeting processes
• Experience with accounting software such as Aplos or Gusto preferred.

Skills

• Strong proficiency in accounting software.
• Understanding of double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation procedures
• Experience with bank reconciliation, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation
• Familiarity with payroll processing, tax experience, and governmental reporting requirements
• Solid grasp of financial concepts such as debits & credits, balance sheet management, budgeting, and technical accounting principles
• Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts efficiently

Estimated time requirements are 4-6 hours per week, but may vary some seasonally. This individual will work closely with our Stewardship & Finance Committee and report to the Church Board.

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
