POSITION SUMMARY

The Fanconi Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by Fanconi anemia through research, education, and support.

The Bookkeeper and Operations Coordinator supports the Director of Finance and Operations in the day-to-day execution of accounting, administrative, and operational functions.

This role focuses on accurate transaction processing, recordkeeping, and coordination of internal processes. The position supports accounting, compliance, HR administration, systems, and office operations by maintaining organized documentation and assisting with routine organizational needs.

The role also serves as the primary internal point of contact for basic IT systems administration and help desk support, coordinating with external IT vendors as needed.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role with no supervisory responsibilities and no signing or approval authority.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Administrative Support

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Maintain general ledger entries and supporting documentation
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations and journal entries under the direction of the Director of Finance and Operations
  • Support payroll processing and track related benefits and deductions
  • Track restricted funds, grants, and designated funds
  • Prepare documentation for Director review related to payments and reporting
  • Maintain accurate and organized accounting records in accordance with established procedures

Compliance & Administrative Support

  • Assist in maintaining compliance calendars and required filings
  • Support preparation of audit and Form 990 documentation
  • Maintain organized accounting and compliance records

Human Resources Support

  • Assist with employee benefits administration and related recordkeeping
  • Maintain PTO and personnel documentation files
  • Support organization and accuracy of HR records

Systems Administration & Help Desk Support

  • Serve as the primary internal contact for staff technology support, responding to routine help desk requests and troubleshooting basic issues
  • Coordinate with external IT vendors for escalated support and system maintenance
  • Manage user account setup, access, and permissions across systems
  • Support onboarding and offboarding by setting up and disabling system access
  • Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and access protocols
  • Assist in improving technology tools and workflows

Office & Facilities Coordination

  • Maintain organization of supplies, storage areas, and shared spaces
  • Coordinate routine maintenance and vendor services
  • Procure office supplies and equipment
  • Support records retention and file organization

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, and GAAP
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience providing basic IT support or systems administration
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage confidential information

COMPENSATION

Starting Salary: $65,000

Salary range: $65,000 – $80,000

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position operates in a professional office environment. Prolonged sitting and computer work are required. Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds (including file boxes) may be required.

Pay: $65,000.00 per year
