Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant

BBS Midwest is a Kansas City-based business management company overseeing a portfolio of interconnected entities across multiple industries. We are a small team, and hold our financial records to a high standard. We're looking for a detail-oriented bookkeeper or junior accountant to grow with us as a core part of our operations team.

--- WHAT YOU'LL DO

In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple business entities.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Recording and categorizing financial transactions in QuickBooks

- Reconciling bank and credit card accounts on a regular basis

- Managing accounts payable and receivable entries

- Assisting with monthly financial close processes

- Generating basic reports and flagging discrepancies for review

- Maintaining organized digital financial records across entities

- Supporting the leadership team with ad hoc accounting tasks as needed

--- WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop)

- Strong attention to detail, accuracy is non-negotiable in this role

- Ability to work independently and manage your own task list without constant oversight

- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, reconciliation)

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets

Preferred (not required):

- Experience managing books for more than one company or entity

- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

- 1+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience

- Salary: $45,000 - $52,000 annually, based on experience
