About Us

Built on a legacy that began in 1854, Chase Leavitt provides essential marine safety, equipment servicing, and port agency support to the Maine coast. As a proud member of Do Good Group, a local holding company focused on creating Maine jobs and donating profits to charity, our team at 84 Cove Street is looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to manage daily transactions, keep vendor and client accounts in order, and support our financial health. We are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, and are looking for someone to join us within those hours- but are flexible what that might look like for the right person. You'll join a team who have worked here for many years and care deeply about safety and supporting Maine's working waterfront. Ideally you are in person to start, but we are open to a hybrid schedule in the future depending on needs of the business. We have an accounting firm that handles a lot- but need some help here to tie up loose ends.

What You’ll Do

• Accounts Payable (AP): Review, code, and process vendor and supplier invoices, match purchase orders, and schedule payments on time.
• Accounts Receivable (AR): Record and apply incoming client payments, monitor account balances, and follow up professionally on unpaid accounts.
• Daily Transaction Tracking: Maintain clean financial logs, categorize daily transactions accurately, and organize digital records for all receipts and bills.
• Complete Weekly Payroll: Complete weekly payroll for both the Retail and Agency business.
• Accountant Collaboration: Work closely with our external CPA/Accountant to ensure all files and records are accurate and ready for monthly reviews and tax prep.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 2+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience focusing on AP, AR, and payment processing.
• Software Skills: Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, SOS Inventory) and standard spreadsheets (Excel). Previous multi-year experience with Quickbooks Online and businesses with inventory management is required.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous with data entry, double-checking figures, and maintaining clear documentation.
• Communication: Professional, clear communicator when interacting with vendors, clients, and internal team members.

Pay & Benefits

• Flexible Schedule: We are looking for around 20 hours per week and are open to a schedule that works for you within 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.
• Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour
• PTO, 401k with Match, Holidays off
