Job Title: Bookkeeper / Accountant (Part-Time or Full-Time)Overview
We are a high-end residential interior design firm seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant to support the financial operations of the business.
This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting functions, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily bookkeeping functions including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements
- Maintain accurate general ledger and financial records
- Process vendor invoices and client payments
- Prepare and issue checks and oversee payment processing
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Generate financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Monitor project-related expenses and support job costing
- Work with external CPA for tax preparation and compliance
- Identify discrepancies and proactively resolve issues
Required Qualifications
- 3–7+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks; experience with Studio Designer is a plus)
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion
Industry Experience (Strongly Preferred)
Candidates with experience in the following will be prioritized:
- Interior design firms
- Construction or trades-based businesses
- Project-based accounting environments with job costing
This experience is highly valued, as the role requires an understanding of project budgets, vendor coordination, and cost tracking across multiple active jobs.
