Boulder Crest TX - Groundskeeper/Equipment Operator

Job Summary

The Grounds Keeper Equipment Operator is responsible to the Director of Operations for the maintenance, upkeep, and cleanliness of the grounds and grounds equipment at Boulder Crest Retreat Texas. This is a full time position.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

• Ensures grounds; buildings, gardens, equipment, facilities, vehicles, and utility support are maintained in top condition.

• Cuts grass, using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2000 lbs.)
• Trims hedges and edges around walks, flower beds, and wells, using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools.
• Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide.
• Ensure all grounds a properly watered; understand water systems for garden and all facilities
• Picks up and carts away leaves, paper or other litter.
• Repairs and paints fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
• Assists Property Manager in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment as directed.
• May clean comfort stations, conference center, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing.

• Ensures communication with Retreat leadership regarding status of, equipment, grounds, vehicles, and logistics, always immediately identifying any concerns or needs.
• Assists in cleaning responsibilities and assigned additional duties as directed.
• Works with Director of Operations to de-conflict grounds and maintenance repairs with guest and reservation schedules.

• Supports the retreat's volunteer maintenance projects on premises as needed.
• Works directly with Operations Manager for expenditures, including purchases for needed supplies and equipment maintenance.
• Responsible for safe transport of Retreat guests to and from offsite recreation activity locations as needed.
• Provides a positive and always encouraging attitude and professionalism to represent Boulder Crest Retreat's mission and goals.

Capabilities Required

The Grounds Keeper / Equipment Operator will have an education and professional background commensurate with this important position. At minimum, the Grounds Keeper will hold a high school diploma or GED, and have 5+ years proven experience of Grounds Keeping and Equipment Operating.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a skilled problem solver, with extensive knowledge of standard grounds keeping maintenance procedures, including but not limited to, grass cutting, hedging, water systems, and equipment operations and maintenance. Must provide references and work well under minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Grounds Keeper is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position requires extensive computer use, so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Travel

Must be able to travel to attend meetings, conferences, training, and other events as required to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the position's responsibilities.

Work Environment

The work environment is a large 65-acre Ranch located in Italy, Texas. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations in the work
