South Dakota State University (SDState) is seeking a dynamic Broadcast Services Assistant to help create impactful video, design, and social media content that continues to elevate our athletics brand. This role supports storytelling across multiple sports—with a primary focus on football—by producing cinematic visuals and engaging digital content that highlights our student‑athletes, coaches, and programs.
This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

SDState is an NCAA Division I institution and competes in the Summit League for all sports except football (Missouri Valley Football Conference), wrestling (Big XII Conference), and women’s equestrian (National Collegiate Equestrian Association).
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will support storytelling efforts for the department of athletics through the execution of artistic, cinematic video, hype pieces, digital design, and social media content that highlight staff, coaches and student-athletes to engage fans, enhance the student-athlete experience, generate excitement around athletic programs, and continiue elevate the department’s brand while following all departmental, university, conference, and NCAA policies and regulations. This position will work with a variety of sports, but the primary focus will be football.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned Bachelor’s degree (preference in communications, journalism, or related field) by appointment date;
  • Minimum one year of related experience in broadcasting or journalism;
  • Minimum of one year of video experience in collegiate athletics;
  • Demonstrated experience creating short form video content for social medial platform;
  • Demonstrated strong computer application skills;
  • Self-directed and motivated;
  • Effective communication (oral, written and interpersonal) skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work various hours including nights and weekends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with video and producing collegiate sports;
  • Experience with producing sports content for distribution on a daily or weekly basis;
  • Knowledge and understanding of athletic sports programs;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud software
