As a Budget and Audit Specialist (Accountant II), you will be primarily responsible for ensuring the accuracy of Bethany’s annual Single Audit, which encompasses reconciliations, day to day accounting processes, and ensuring maintenance of current accounting standards. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining the agency Chart of Accounts, and completion of Bethany’s International wire transfers. An ideal candidate for this role will have a great understanding of accounting and general ledger concepts, strong attention to detail, and will have a gracious disposition even under stress. This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate details for single audit by maintaining contract information spreadsheet, reconciling with general ledger, assisting auditors with testing, preparing reports and submission of completed audit;

Maintain Chart of Accounts by revising documents, updating information in CRM, general ledger, and financial reporting system;

Complete annual financial questionnaires from funding sources;

Provide CFO with monthly agency-wide financial reports;

Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements by studying and adhering to regulations for financial filings;

Review account discrepancies and reconcile differences;

Promptly respond to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting key data;

Develop ad-hoc financial reports as requested by Finance team;

Provide financial counsel by studying operational issues, applying financial practices and principles, and developing recommendations;

Stay up to date on current financial regulations and accounting best practices;

Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s level degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field of study.

At least three (3) years of experience in an accounting role.

Advanced knowledge in MS Office Excel and accounting software.

Demonstrated ability with effectively managing competing projects and timelines.

Prior experience working with Great Plains Accounting a plus.

Professional CPA Certification a plus.

Demonstrated knowledge of business bookkeeping procedures.

Must possess a high level of organizational skills with acute attention to detail and detection of discrepancies.

Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.

Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;

Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;

Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage;

Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;

Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
