Position Summary
Provides budget and financial analysis support for the College of Business Administration Dean. Assists in the development, analysis, and execution of the college’s annual operating budget that is used to allocate current resources and estimate future financial requirements. Collaborates with academic affairs following budget guidelines and procedures. Advises CBA Dean regarding available options and budgetary implications. Reviews expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary provisions. May use cost-benefit analysis to review financial requests. Prepares budget summaries and other reports for senior management review and approval. Monitors budget throughout the year to determine if funds have been spent as allocated. Works closely with the Business Manager and the NBDC Business/Grants Manager to accomplish common goals.

Job Duties

Responsibility Area:
Budget and Fiscal Management

Duties:
  • Work closely with the College of Business Administration Dean and the Director of Academic Budget in providing information for use in short-term and long-range planning, organizational and fiscal management.
  • Assist in identifying and recommending funding sources for initiatives, facility improvements, equipment purchases, strategic hiring and operations.
  • Responsible for initiating, reviewing and monitoring budget transfers for the college.
  • Work closely with the Dean and the Director of Academic Budget on the annual budget preparation process including processing raises and balancing the new budget.
  • Review expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary provisions and monitor budget throughout the year to determine if funds have been spent as allocated.
  • Work closely with CBA Business Manager and the NBDC Business/Grants Manager to accomplish common goals.
  • May use cost-benefit analysis to review financial requests.

UNO Budget Team

Duties:
Work with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Budget & Financial Analysis and the UNO Budget team in a supporting role. This will include attendance at enhanced training opportunities, potential training lead as subject matter expert, cross-unit support during staffing vacancies and increased exposure to campus budget outside of the primary job responsibilities.

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, equivalency considered.

Required Experience
Two years’ experience in positions with financial and budgetary responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to manage and apply accounting principles to multiple, complex budgets. Experience with various types of analysis and reporting. Proficiency with a large integrated financial management system, such as SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Highly effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Excellent skills in prioritization, high level of discretion and accuracy are required. Ability to work in a team setting.
