Salary Range: $34,500 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

    Job Summary

    The Building Attendant participates in the custodial maintenance and care of the university. The role ensures an orderly, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment within our campus buildings for our students, faculty, customers, and staff. The position maintains the University's housing facilities in clean and orderly condition, in accordance to the University's standards.

    Core Responsibilities
    • Oversees custodial maintenance.
    • Performs custodial maintenance of buildings to include refinishing of floors; cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, waxing/polishing, and scrubbing of tile work, floors, stairways, hallways, restrooms, offices, laboratories, locker rooms, and building lobbies; emptying waste receptacles; polishing of nickel and brass work; cleaning, dusting, and polishing furniture, and equipment; and cleans/maintains restrooms.
    • Washes windows and moves furniture; removes and empties paper recycling bins; washes and polishes drinking fountains.
    • Assists in moving office furniture; and prepares common spaces and other areas for meetings and special events.
    • Distributes and assists with inventory of facility maintenance supplies and equipment.
    • Ensures the entrance areas of the building remain clean and neat.
    • Reports safety hazards/out-of-order items.
    • Ensures energy conservation by turning off all non-necessary lights (storage rooms, offices, etc.).
    • Operates state motor vehicles as required to perform the above duties.
    • Completes daily logs accurately and efficiently.
    • Tests and evaluates new cleaning products.
    • Assists supervisors with yearly inventory of all custodial equipment and supplies as required by university policy.
    • Participates in the preparation of room turnover for student move-in.
    • Promotes an environment of safety and environmental protection by working immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; following University safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating in appropriate safety training.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    • High School Diploma, Vocational Training or Apprenticeship in a related field.
    • One (1) year of related work experience.
    • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

    Working Conditions
    • Office environment. Chemical products may pose hazardous conditions. May be required to work weekends and holidays. Will be required to have a flexible work schedule, including but not limited to, working evenings, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be required.

    Physical Demands
    • Use of manual dexterity.

    This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

    This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
