Building Automation Project Manager

Description

We are seeking a Project Manager with strong experience managing commercial HVAC or MEP projects to play a key role in launching and growing our Tampa office. This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership position and help build our presence in a new market, with the autonomy to take ownership as we scale operations.

In this role, you will lead building automation projects from planning through completion, managing scope, budget, and execution. While experience with building automation or controls systems is a plus, it is not required—we provide the training and support needed to successfully transition into BAS.

Brooks Building Solutions is an established company (founded in 1984) with a strong presence across Florida, including offices in Jacksonville, Sunrise, Orlando, and Tallahassee. As we expand into Tampa, this role offers significant growth potential and the opportunity to help shape the future of the market.

Candidates with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) project management backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply, as this experience translates well into building automation.

Pay Range:
Starting at $95,000-$110,000+, negotiable based on experience

In addition to base salary, all locations include your choice of a company vehicle with gas card or a $700/month vehicle allowance with gas card.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all phases of building automation projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
Track budgets, schedules, change orders, and documentation.
Ensure project compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
Serve as the main point of contact for clients, engineers, and contractors.
Provide regular updates to stakeholders and company leadership.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems.
Experience managing projects exceeding $500K.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office.
Experience with building automation or controls systems (e.g., DDC, BAS, Niagara, Tridium) is a plus, but not required.
Experience as an MEP Project Manager in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing construction will be considered highly transferable.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Equivalent experience and/or relevant certifications will also be considered.
