    At the present time, a vacancy exists for a Supervisor of Building & Grounds within the Administrative Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This position is based at the Child & Career Development Center in Coatesville, PA.

    SUMMARY OF POSITION:
    Responsible for daily supervision of maintenance or custodial staff, coordinates and tracks work orders and schedules work, manages departmental staff scheduling and operational support services related to the Chester County Intermediate Unit's facilities maintenance needs. Participates in procurement activities for the department. Estimates construction and renovation project costs and implements minor to moderate construction and renovation projects. Responsible for preventive maintenance programs implementation. Coordinates and manages outside vendors and sub-contractors. Performs maintenance and custodial duties as required. Performs snow removal duties as required. Responsible for tracking performance of employees.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School diploma with an emphasis in vocational technical education and the Trades (electric, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC), valid Pennsylvania Driver's License with a minimum of (5) years supervisory experience in facilities maintenance
      OR
      High School diploma with (3) years trades experience and a minimum of (3) years supervisory experience in facilities maintenance in a school or institutional setting
      OR
    High School diploma with a minimum of (3) years of work experience as a certified HVAC, Electrician, or Plumber
    (Bachelor's degree in engineering or related preferred)
    • General knowledge and understanding of trades, codes and regulations.
    • General knowledge of maintaining primary and secondary electrical systems and equipment.
    • Working knowledge of carpentry and plumbing and custodial services methods and procedures.
    • Knowledge of EPA and DER regulations and Pennsylvania environmental regulations.
    • Ability to read and work from plans, blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
    • Ability to operate a variety of tools common to the maintenance trades.
    • Ability to perform routine maintenance as well as some major and minor repairs to facilities systems and equipment.
    • Experience with AHERA regulations and asbestos removal/remediation protocols.

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist the director with the implementation of an agency wide energy management plan.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of the capital improvement plan.
    • Coordinate, design, manage, schedule or perform all major and minor repairs and alterations throughout the CCIU's facilities.
    • Conduct regularly scheduled building inspections to identify safety, environmental and maintenance related needs and implement plans to address those needs.
    • Coordinate, manage and schedule all grounds maintenance related activities and needs including lawn maintenance, landscaping and planting of beds, trees, shrubbery and flowers.
    • Assure that all CCIU facilities are in compliance with state and federal life safety and environmental codes and regulations.
    • Coordinate and assist as required in the relocation of classrooms, equipment and offices.
    • Respond to emergency facilities maintenance related calls during normal and after normal work hours.
    • Order, receive and distribute maintenance and custodial supplies.
    • Responsible for maintaining constructions files and documents.
    • Work with and coordinate activities of code enforcement officials.

    2025-2026 SALARY:


    $30.74 to $38.43 per hour
    Project, Band 13, Non-exempt
    • Placement on scale is determined by years of relevant experience in similar role
