Position Title: Building Maintenance Technician

Chicago (Uptown)

Job type: Full time – Hourly

Building Maintenance Technician Purpose AND SCOPE:

The Building Maintenance Technician's purpose is to maintain a safe, functional, and efficient building for members and others. This role will involve the inspection of equipment, and performance of basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required.

Building Maintenance Technician Responsibilities/TASKS:

• General building cleaning, maintenance and repairs
• Seasonal changes involving the set up and break down outdoor amenities
• Some carpentry work including:
• Plaster, Prime and Painting
• Drywall hanging
• Be able to do small plumbing repairs like;
• Changing a kitchen or bathroom faucet
• Change out a cartridge on the shower
• Repairs to toilets (familiar with Sloan Valves a plus)
• Assist in tier water shut downs in the building
• Be able to complete work orders in a timely manner
• Experience with mechanical equipment is a plus
• Assists in maintaining the grounds, common areas, and amenities as needed.
• Work with vendors to complete assigned tasks
• Assists in conducting routine and periodic property inspections to identify safety and risk management concerns
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs
• Experience conducting inventory of building supplies as needed
• Be on call for building emergencies
• Other duties as assigned

Physical AND Mental Demands / Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require.
• Ability to climb a ladder and step ladder
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Travel will be required between properties

Required Skills:

• Above average work ethic
• Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
• Experience performing routine maintenance.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Professional presentation and attitude.
• Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
• Strong time management skills.

Experience:

• Previous trade experience is preferred but not required
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Experience with smart phone apps

Compensation:

The company offers a highly competitive compensation package for technician positions which includes a base hourly pay rate in the range of $20–$22 dollars per hour.

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Wednesday to Sunday
• Wednesday through Friday: 10:00am to 6:30pm
• Saturday & Sunday: 7:00am to 3:30pm
• Morning/Afternoon shift

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
