Building Maintenance Technician

East Missouri Action Agency has an opening for a Building Maintenance Technician. The purpose of this position is to provide general upkeep of the grounds and general maintenance and care of the facility and agency equipment. This position performs preventative maintenance work and constructs/installs/moves furnishings and supplies and installs equipment to minimize the need to obtain the services of outside vendors.
Applicants must be 18 or older and must possess a high school diploma or GED. This position requires building maintenance experience and mechanical knowledge and skills as well as knowledge of in-depth cleaning principles. General carpentry, electrical wiring and plumbing skills and experience are preferred. Candidate must be able to work with other Agency employees as well as persons in other private/public sectors. A Missouri Chauffeur's License is required within 2 weeks of hire along with liability insurance.
The starting pay for this position is $15.87/hour. East Missouri Action Agency offers an excellent benefit package that includes the following:

1. Position Title: Building Maintenance Technician
2. Grade Level: V
3. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
4. Supervisor's Position: Community Services Director
5. Supervisory Responsibilities: Volunteers/Custodial Technician (Indirectly)
6. Position Summary: The incumbent of this position provides general upkeep of the grounds and general maintenance and care of facilities. Also provides care/maintenance of Agency vehicles, lawn mowers, weed eaters, fire extinguishers, etc. Performs preventative maintenance work for Agency facilities. Constructs/installs/moves furnishings and supplies; installs equipment to minimize the need to obtain the services of outside vendors.
7. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Clean Central Office (or Cape Girardeau), to include (but not limited to):
1) Empty trash
2) Mop
3) Sweep
4) Vacuum
5) Clean windows
6) Other tasks as may be appropriate and assigned
7) Buffing tile surfaces
B. Provide care/maintenance of Agency vehicles, lawn mowers, weed eaters, fire extinguishers, etc.
C. Snow removal or contacting of appropriate snow removal contractor.
D. Mow grass at designated sites, as instructed by supervisor.
E. Provide general upkeep of the grounds.
F. Provide general maintenance and care of facilities, to include but not be limited to:
1) Carpentry
2) Mechanical repair
3) Electrical skills
G. Purchase and pick up of building materials and supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning materials, etc. and distribute them to appropriate areas.
H. Performs preventive maintenance work for Agency facilities.
I. Constructs/installs/moves furnishings & supplies; installs equipment to minimize the need to obtain the services of outside vendors.
J. Indirectly supervises custodial technician (when applicable).
K. Assigns duties to custodial technician (when applicable).
L. Must maintain confidentiality of agency/client information
M. Maintains and organizes Agency’s warehouse.
N. Secures licenses for Agency vehicles, including state vehicle inspection.
O. Secures building permits for designated projects.
P. Any other duties deemed necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the Agency.
Q. Must be able to lift/move objects over 75 pounds.
8. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Must possess High School Diploma or GED.
B. Possess, or be willing to obtain, valid Missouri Chauffeur’s License within 2 weeks of hire, and liability insurance.
C. Possess ability to work with other Agency employees, as well as persons in other public/private sector, and other projects as needed.
D. Possess building maintenance skills and experience.
E. Possess mechanical knowledge and skills for vehicle repair & maintenance.
F. Possess knowledge and skills of in-depth cleaning principles.
G. Possess general carpentry skills.
H. Possess knowledge and skills in electrical wiring.
I. Possess knowledge and skills of major plumbing.
J. Possess good organizational skills.
K. Must have working telephone in place of residence.
L. Must obtain Hepatitis B vaccination.
M. Must be able to maintain good attendance.
