POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Business Analyst (BA) is a key member of the Agile Scrum team, serving as the connection point between business stakeholders, the Product Owner, UI/UX, technical leadership, QA, and developers. The BA is responsible for eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and refining requirements, then translating them into clear, testable, implementation‑ready Jira backlog items.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Requirements Analysis and Definition

Elicit, analyze, validate, and document business, functional, and non‑functional requirements.

Translate business needs into epics, features, user stories, workflows, business rules, and supporting documentation.

Decompose complex requirements into sprint‑ready items.
-
Identify dependencies, constraints, risks, and requirement gaps.
-
Maintain alignment across business goals, user needs, architecture, and delivered functionality.
-
Ensure traceability from needs through Jira tickets and testing.
Jira Ticket Development and Backlog Readiness

Create and maintain high‑quality Jira tickets.
-
Build/manage all Jira issue types with proper linking, context, and acceptance criteria.
-
Ensure backlog items are sized and ready for estimation and development.
-
Maintain backlog hygiene.
-
Support the Product Owner during refinement.
Collaboration with Product, UX, and Technical Leadership
-
Partner with Product Owner to refine scope and alignment.
-
Work with UI/UX to capture workflows and interaction expectations.
-
Collaborate with Technical Leads/Architects to validate feasibility.
-
Ensure shared understanding across stakeholders.
Scrum Team Support

Participate in Scrum ceremonies.
-
Ensure stories are ready for estimation and sprint commitment.
-
Clarify requirements and resolve blockers.
-
Support iterative delivery.
Acceptance Criteria, QA, and Validation
-
Define testable acceptance criteria.
-
Collaborate with QA/testing teams.
-
Support defect triage and clarification.
-
Validate delivered work aligns with intent.
-
Support UAT.
Stakeholder Communication and Facilitation
-
Act as liaison between business and technical stakeholders.
-
Facilitate discovery, reviews, and refinement.
-
Present requirements clearly to all audiences.
-
Manage expectations around scope and requirements.
Client Deliverables and User Enablement

Support client demos.
-
Contribute to release notes, training materials, and user guides.
-
Ensure documentation accuracy.
Continuous Improvement

Participate in retrospectives.
-
Recommend improvements to Jira standards and requirement practices.
-
Strengthen cross‑team collaboration.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
-
Experience as a Business Analyst.
-
Expertise in Jira and backlog management.
-
Strong communication and analytical skills.
-
High‑level understanding of software systems, including front‑end, back‑end, APIs, and data flow.
-
Basic familiarity with system integrations and how different applications communicate with each other.
-
General understanding of data concepts.
-
Ability to interpret data requirements.
-
Ability to document requirements with sufficient technical context, including workflows, business rules, and expected system behavior.
-
Foundational knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery processes.
-
Understanding of how requirements support development, testing, and release activities.
-
Awareness of QA and testing concepts, including acceptance criteria, user acceptance testing (UAT), and defect tracking.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

Relevant certifications (CBAP, PMI‑PBA, CSM, etc.).
