Business Analyst – Commercial Development

JOB PURPOSE


To drive data-driven commercial decision-making within the Business Development function by generating structured insights, developing customer P&L visibility, and translating market data into actionable growth opportunities across Middle East markets.

The role serves as the analytical engine of Commercial Development, enabling performance tracking, profitability management, distribution optimization, and strategic planning.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Commercial Analytics & Insight Generation

Analyze commercial performance across markets, channels, and customers.

Identify risks and growth opportunities through structured data interpretation.

Translate sell-in, sell-out, distribution, and trade data into business insights.

Support route-to-market optimization through analytical evaluation.

Provide structured recommendations to Commercial Leadership.


Development of Customer P&L

Develop and maintain standardized Customer P&L frameworks.

Analyze revenue, trade spend, cost-to-serve, and contribution by customer.

Monitor customer profitability trends and margin evolution.

Support negotiation strategy through data-backed profitability insights.

Align customer P&L analysis with Finance and Commercial teams.


Sell-Out & Market Performance Analysis

Consolidate and standardize sell-out data across Middle East markets.

Identify category, SKU, and customer-level performance trends.

Ensure alignment between sell-in and sell-out dynamics.

Highlight distribution gaps and execution inefficiencies.


Commercial Dashboards & KPI Governance

Design and maintain BD dashboards covering Net Sales, Contribution, Distribution KPIs, Trade Spend, Pricing and Innovation performance.

Harmonize KPIs across markets.

Ensure automation and continuous improvement of reporting tools.

Deliver monthly structured performance packs to leadership.


Investment & Trade Effectiveness Evaluation

Evaluate promotional ROI and trade investment efficiency.

Support CAPEX and commercial investment analysis.

Provide scenario simulations to support planning cycles.

Contribute to annual budget preparation through analytical modeling.


Data Governance & Process Improvement

Improve data accuracy and validation processes.

Standardize reporting timelines and formats across markets.

Drive automation using Power BI and advanced Excel.

Continuously enhance commercial visibility tools.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS


Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Industrial Engineering, MIS, or related field.

Minimum of 1-2 years in FMCG analytics, commercial finance, business intelligence, or related analytical roles.

Experience in customer profitability analysis, trade spend analysis, and multi-market reporting is highly preferred.

Advanced Excel (mandatory).

Power BI (mandatory).

SAP knowledge preferred.

Financial modeling capability.

Strong dashboard development skills.
