Position Summary:
The Business Analyst, Distribution & Logistics, will be the catalyst for transitioning our operational culture to a data-based decision model and will have the unique responsibility of building and leading the foundational Data and Communications team at our Glendale, AZ warehouse campus. This role requires exceptional cross-functional project leadership to drive complex system and process initiatives. The analyst ensures that decisions regarding process improvements, system enhancements, and resource allocation are consistently grounded in objective data derived from our core systems (WMS, WCS, LM).
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead and drive project success for system upgrades, process changes, and operational technology rollouts, leveraging previous project management experience.
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, IT, Finance, and vendors to define scope, manage timelines, and ensure alignment across all stakeholders for distribution projects.
- Develop project documentation, including charters, risk assessments, and status reports, ensuring timely and effective communication.
Team Leadership & Development (Glendale, AZ)
- Recruit, train, and manage the new Data and Communications team at the Glendale, AZ warehouse campus.
- Establish the data reporting and communication standards for the local site, ensuring consistency with corporate guidelines.
- Mentor team members on best practices for data extraction, analysis, visualization, and effective communication of insights.
Driving Data-Based Decision Making
- Establish and socialize key operational performance indicators (KPIs) across distribution, enforcing their use to guide all operational and strategic decisions.
- Champion data literacy within the Operations team, providing training on interpreting and utilizing performance data.
- Present complex analytical findings and recommendations to leadership, detailing financial and operational impacts.
System and Data Expertise (WMS/WCS/LM)
- Critically analyze the data integrity and accuracy of system interfaces, implementing controls to ensure data reliability.
- Provide comprehensive analytical and systemic support for the Labor Management (LM) program, utilizing engineered standards and labor utilization data as the primary basis for labor planning/ staffing models.
- Develop robust analytical models using SQL and BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to track actual performance against standards and empower daily operational adjustments.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Team Lead in a high-volume distribution environment.
- Previous Project Management experience leading complex, cross-functional supply chain or IT projects is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in building, mentoring, and leading a small analytical or technical team.
- Mandatory high proficiency in data querying and analysis (SQL) and experience developing operational reports/dashboards in BI tools.
- Expertise in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) functionality and configuration, with strong working knowledge of Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) and Labor Management (LM) systems.
- Prior experience in a newly established or rapidly scaling distribution center.
