The TxDOT Support Services Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for an Business Analyst position. In this role, you will assist in administering the VFA Capital Planning and Facilities Asset Management Information System (FAMIS) including setting up new users, training and supporting end users. This includes working independently by providing ad-hoc requests and data reporting to requesters and management. Business Analyst I
Performs business analysis work by analyzing business processes and activities to meet Department needs. Participates in developing, enhancing, and/or maintaining information resources applications for the Department. Develops and writes conceptual business process design specifications; or plans, analyzes, coordinates and supports the information needs of the Department. Work requires contact with business specialists, information providers, project managers, and Department management. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Business Analyst II
Performs complex business analysis work by facilitating the analysis of business processes and activities to meet Department needs. Develops, enhances, and/or maintains information resources applications for the Department. Develops and writes conceptual business process design specifications; or plans, analyzes, coordinates and supports the information needs of the Department. Work requires contact with business specialists, information providers, project managers, and Department management. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Essential Duties:Business Analyst I
Analyzes business value of proposed business changes and makes priority recommendations to the Administration.
Analyzes business value of proposed reporting enhancements and makes recommendations to the Administration.
Analyzes multi-dimensional models, relational databases and information technology-based applications for timely, accurate, relevant and intuitive information delivery.
Analyzes needs and constructs and implements decision-support based applications.
Ascertains business area readiness for change to new business processes and identifies appropriate implementation measures.
Assists in developing conceptual models for redesigning business processes.
Assists in testing, validating, updating and enhancing applications.
Assists in the establishment of business vision, identification and analysis of business processes and analysis of internal and external customer needs.
May serve as a project leader.
Captures, documents and/or implements functional business requirements.
Composes and compiles progress/status reports, memoranda, correspondence, and other Department documentation on diverse subject matter.
Consults with, coordinates, facilitates and integrates the activities of business specialists, information providers and technical resources.
Defines, evaluates and promotes the philosophy of business improvement through the use of technology, process improvement and human resources.
Establishes performance targets and measures results through comparative analysis.
Evaluates, analyzes and implements business processes and departmental information needs and/or assists technical professionals in analysis and assessment of a variety of business areas.
Identifies and analyzes diverse data repositories and designs and maintains executive-level reports in a single source repository of executive information.
Interviews executive management and assesses informational needs.
Monitors the implementation process and conducts follow-up for facilitated workshops to ensure effective use of business personnel in performing analysis and developing specifications.
Performs benchmark comparisons of business processes to external entities.
Plans and coordinates activities associated with the delivery of complex business and information analyses, information repositories and Information Technology based applications.
Prepares and makes presentations.
Serves on Quality Management teams, task forces, committees and/or workshops.
Stays abreast of the policies, procedures and legislation that may impact various business areas.
Works with consultants, vendors and other entities

Assists business and technical professionals in the analysis and assessment of a variety of business areas and processes.
Business Analyst I:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Admin, Computer Science, Manage Info Systems, or related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
2 years of experience in business-related analysis, technical system and design, project management and/or support (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent) Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Business Analyst II:
