Responsibilities
- Set Company Sales and Business Development Strategies and its implementation.
- Directly oversee the Sales & Marketing team, which includes sales managers, marketing professionals and staff.
- Collaborate with department leads from other departments like Production, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service on client projects and proposals.
- The role has to ensure that client satisfaction on each service / project as well as rectification on issues raised by customers.
- In some cases, the BDM appoints agents in overseas markets to represent Premier Marine as part of the Sales strategy, and these are to be managed and monitored from Head Office.
- Maintain close supervision and effective communication without becoming overwhelmed.
- Ensure that safety protocols and industry regulations are incorporated into business strategies, client proposals, and contracts, working closely with the Operations and Safety teams to prioritize safety in all business development activities.
- Ensure that the Sales Team performs according to the sales plan forecasted, and provide support to Finance for payment collection assistance.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of the marine sector, including shipping, offshore services, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership skills to manage, motivate, and align the Sales & Marketing team with company goals.
- Proficiency in negotiating contracts and securing profitable business deals while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Ability to analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new opportunities and adapt strategies effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting to clients, stakeholders, and senior management.
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field is required, with a master's degree (MBA) preferred. The role typically demands 7-10 years of experience in business development or leadership within the marine industry, including team management and strategic growth.
