Nature of Work
The Business Development Manager is responsible for cultivating an extensive network of partners to include developers, owners and their representatives, architects, engineers, and other professional relationships that can be leveraged to create quality business opportunities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and execute the annual Business Development (BD) Plan for target markets to generate new project opportunities.

Provide monthly updates on the BD plan to leadership and BD/Marketing teams.

Advise leadership on ongoing BD activities and emerging market opportunities.

Prepare and present summary reports on industry and geographic market trends to inform annual BD planning.

Partner with the proposal team to provide strategic direction, participate in proposal/qualification efforts, and support final contract negotiations as needed.

Initiate, coordinate, and attend client and partner meetings in line with the BD plan and assigned markets/territories.

Research and analyze market trends, economic conditions, and competitive insights to anticipate and identify new opportunities.

Maintain timely records of client interactions, events, and leads in CRM systems.

Identify and pursue memberships, organizations, and associations to expand networks, build brand awareness, and educate the market.

Attend industry events and conferences to strengthen relationships and develop new leads; track and follow up appropriately.

Contribute to the development and implementation of the Cerris Builders strategic plan.

Serve as a knowledge resource for the firm’s history, project portfolio, capabilities, expertise, and values.

Collaborate with technical teams to design and execute strategies that generate project opportunities.

Provide input and recommendations for marketing initiatives.

Perform additional duties as required to support organizational goals.

Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional networks with developers, owners, architects, engineers, and other key partners.

Strong strategic thinking and planning skills with the ability to translate market insights into actionable opportunities.

Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Proficiency with CRM systems and ability to track, manage, and report on client relationships and leads.

Knowledge of market research techniques and ability to analyze industry trends, economic conditions, and competitive landscapes.

Skilled in proposal development and familiarity with contract negotiation processes.

Ability to represent the firm at industry events with professionalism and confidence.

Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across business development, marketing, and technical teams.

Education-
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university or equivalent experience.
Experience

10+ years of related work experience preferred.

The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity. Availability to travel as needed.
