Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to drive commercial growth and achieve our ambition of establishing a leading Geoscience services business in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for building strong relationships with key clients, promoting our unique value proposition, and securing profitable and repeat business. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients to promote our ability to deliver best-in-class projects and secure highly profitable repeat business, and win new work through existing projects, direct award discussions, tender responses, conferences, and general meetings/visits. Communicate the technical value proposition of Viridien Geoscience effectively to a wide range of technical experts, leveraging a strong Geoscience background and understanding of the industry. Prepare and present sales proposals to clients, clearly communicating Viridien's technical capabilities and values, and demonstrating a deep understanding of the client's needs and requirements. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, build strong internal relationships, and monitor market/client information to devise new strategies to improve the company's profitability and competitiveness in the region. Communicate and work effectively to build strong relationship with internal stakeholders from multiple business departments, to meet their business development needs. Principle Accountabilities Identify and establish relationships with potential clients in the geoscience industry, including oil and gas companies, mining and minerals companies, government agencies, and research institutions in Saudi Arabia. Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve growth targets across geoscience sectors, including software, seismic imaging, multi-physics, minerals & mining, satellite mapping, CCS, Data Hub and HPC. Analyse market trends, customer needs, and industry advancements to identify new business opportunities and areas for expansion and develop plans to capitalize on these opportunities. Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape in the Saudi geoscience market, including competitor activity, market share, and industry trends. Collaborate with internal technical teams to develop tailored geoscience solutions for clients, including integrating multiple services and technologies to meet client needs. Prepare and deliver presentations and proposals to prospective clients, demonstrating the company's expertise and capabilities in geoscience, and highlighting the value proposition of Viridien's services. Input into strategies for securing high-value work, including integrated projects with other Viridien business lines and external third parties, and develop plans to pursue these opportunities. Account management, post-sales follow-up, and engagement in projects to ensure effective upselling and cross-selling of Viridien's services, and to build long-term relationships with clients. Manage all aspects of bid responses, including coordination of technical content with technical teams, input into sales/pricing strategy, cost calculation, and completion of all supporting bid requirements. Contract negotiation and execution, including negotiating contracts and agreements with clients, and ensuring that all contractual obligations are met, in coordination and alignment with internal stakeholders CRM updates, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, sales activities, and business development opportunities. Participate in local industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities in Saudi to promote the company's services and stay updated on the latest developments in the field, including new technologies, industry trends, and best practices. Input into regional sales strategy and marketing plans as needed, including developing plans to promote Viridien's services and build brand awareness in the region. Specific Considerations for Saudi Arabia: Knowledge of the Saudi Vision 2030 and its implications for the geoscience industry, including the promotion of renewable energy, the development of a sustainable mining industry, and the growth of the oil and gas sector. Familiarity with the process of obtaining necessary permits and licenses for geoscience operations in Saudi Arabia, including understanding the regulatory framework and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Cultural sensitivity and adaptability, including understanding the local business culture, customs, and practices, and being able to build relationships with clients and partners in the region. Emphasis on relationship-building within the geoscience sector, including building strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders, and developing a deep understanding of their needs and requirements. Adaptability to market fluctuations and industry advancements, including being able to monitor market trends, analyse industry developments, and adjust business strategies accordingly. Key Skills & Experience Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geoscience or a related field, with a strong academic record. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the geoscience industry, with a focus on business development, sales, or consulting, with a proven track record of success. Desired Job Skillsets Strong technical and/or technical sales experience Existing E&P client network is a plus, with established relationships with key clients and partners in the region. Fluency in English, with excellent communication and presentation skills. Fluency in Arabic is preferred. In-depth understanding of the Saudi Arabian business landscape, cultural nuances, and geoscience industry dynamics. Awareness of energy transition industries, including renewable energy and sustainable mining practices. Familiarity with geoscience industry standard software and MS package, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. Key Competencies Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to communicate at different levels in the organization, including with direct manager, technical teams, sales teams, stakeholders in different business departments, and senior management. Problem-solving skills and ability to identify problems and articulate solutions, with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for innovation. Negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, and to build strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
