Business Development Manager – Chicago, IL (Logistics / Freight Forwarding)

Location: Chicago, IL (Remote/Field-Based)

We are seeking a high-performing Business Development Manager with a background in freight forwarding/logistics sales to drive new business and grow key accounts in the Chicago market.

This is a hunter-focused role with strong earning potential, offering the opportunity to build and scale a book of business within a global logistics platform.

Responsibilities:

• Drive new business development and build a strong sales pipeline

• Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting → quoting → negotiation → close

• Sell international freight solutions (air, ocean, import/export)

• Develop and grow long-term client relationships

• Handle RFQs/RFPs, pricing, and contract negotiations

• Partner with operations to ensure seamless onboarding and service delivery

• Stay active in the market through client visits, networking, and industry events

• Meet or exceed revenue and growth targets

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of freight forwarding/logistics sales experience

• Proven track record of winning new business and exceeding targets

• Strong knowledge of air & ocean freight (FCL/LCL, import/export)

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and closing skills

• Experience with CRM tools and pipeline management

• Self-starter with a hunter mentality

• Ability to travel for client meetings

Compensation & Benefits:

• $125,000–$140,000 base salary (flexible based on experience)

• Uncapped commission structure:

• 12% (first 18 months)

• 5% (following year)

• 3% lifetime residual

• 2% warehouse sales
