The Business Development Manager – Bunkering Fuel will be responsible for driving business growth, expanding market presence, and developing long-term relationships with ship owners, operators, traders, and other key stakeholders in the marine fuel industry. The role requires a seasoned professional with deep industry knowledge, strong commercial acumen, and a proven track record in bunkering fuel sales and trading.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities in the bunkering fuel market across designated regions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with ship owners, ship managers, charterers, brokers, and port agents.
- Negotiate and conclude bunker supply contracts, spot deals, and long-term agreements.
- Achieve and exceed sales volume, margin, and revenue targets.
Market & Commercial Strategy
- Analyze market trends, pricing movements, and competitor activities within the marine fuels sector.
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans aligned with company objectives.
- Identify opportunities for new products such as VLSFO, HSFO, MGO, LNG, biofuels, and other alternative marine fuels.
Client Relationship Management
- Act as a trusted commercial partner to clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Manage key accounts and ensure timely resolution of commercial or operational issues.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
Operational & Risk Coordination
- Coordinate with operations, trading, finance, and credit teams to ensure smooth execution of bunker deliveries.
- Monitor credit exposure, payment terms, and risk management in line with company policies.
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, environmental standards, and company compliance procedures.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Prepare regular sales forecasts, performance reports, and market intelligence updates for senior management.
- Track KPIs related to sales growth, customer retention, and profitability.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in bunkering fuel sales, trading, or marine energy business development.
- Strong existing network within the global bunkering and shipping industry.
- Proven track record of achieving sales growth and managing high-value clients.
- In-depth knowledge of marine fuels, pricing mechanisms, port operations, and supply chains.
