The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for generating new business opportunities, expanding the customer base, and achieving revenue targets in the transportation sector. This role involves market research, client acquisitions, proposal development, and relationship management to drive sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities1. New Business Acquisition
Identify and develop new business opportunities in transportation services (line haul, last-mile, freight, employee transport, fleet outsourcing, etc.).
Generate leads through market research, networking, cold calling, industry events, and partnerships.
Create and present business proposals to potential clients.
2. Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
Understand customer requirements and offer customized transportation solutions.
Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients and ensure service satisfaction.
3. Revenue Growth & Strategy
Develop sales strategies to meet revenue and profitability targets.
Track market trends, competitors, and pricing to identify new business opportunities.
Create annual/quarterly sales plans and ensure timely achievement.
4. Coordination With Operations
Work closely with the operations and fleet teams to ensure feasible solutions and smooth onboarding.
Coordinate pricing, service design, and delivery commitments with internal departments.
Assist in resolving operational issues impacting client satisfaction.
