A Business Management Lead primary focus is to direct operational, financial and strategic activities to optimise organisational performance and organisational growth


A Business Management Lead in banking oversees operational, financial, and strategic initiatives, typically supporting Treasury, Wealth Management, Retail Banking or Corporate Banking divisions. Key duties include enhancing business performance, managing regulatory compliance/KYC, leading projects, and providing management information (MIS) analytics to senior leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic & Operational Planning: Supporting General Managers with business plans, developing MIS performance analytics/reports, and conducting capacity planning. Develop and execute business plans to drive growth and improve performance.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Ensuring adherence to local/global regulations, monitoring risk incidents, and liaising with Compliance/MLRO.
  • Business Growth & Process: Collaborating with Relationship Managers to identify growth opportunities, streamlining workflows, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Project Leadership: Managing projects, coordinating with IT/Operations for new product implementations, and supporting system releases.
  • Operational Leadership: Manage day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and alignment with company goals.
  • Financial & Resource Management: Oversee departmental budgets, financial planning, and resource allocation (personnel, equipment).
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze internal/external data, prepare reports, and identify trends to guide decision-making.
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and evaluate staff to improve performance and maintain high engagement.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with vendors, partners, and internal teams.
  • Financial Monitoring: Reviewing department financial performance and supporting budgetary goals.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 8-10 years in corporate banking, treasury, or wealth management or retail banking. 3+ years in a management or leadership role.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Economics; Master's preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling, data analytics, and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Excel). Strong leadership, project management, financial acumen, data analysis, and communication skills. Proficiency in data analysis software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills to influence stakeholders in a matrix organization
