Business Operations Analyst (DOT/GO/Trans Reg #4203)

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) provides a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public while promoting economic development and preserving New Mexico's environment. The NMDOT's Transportation Regulation Division's Motor Carrier Regulation Bureau authorizes and regulates intrastate motor carriers to enforce NMDOT's rules, the Motor Carrier Act and the Ambulance Standards Act, with a focus on safety, to ensure fair practices and availability of necessary services statewide.

As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrate leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government.
Why does the job exist?

Employees in this bureau ensure that existing and prospective motor carriers comply with all applicable state
and federal laws and regulations.

Employees are responsible for reviewing and processing certificate and warrant applications, issuing
authorities and verifying ongoing compliance.

Additionally, this position provides customer service and technical assistance to authorized motor carriers and
those interested in applying for an authority.
How does it get done?

Answers questions regarding the certificate/warrant application processes and requirements
to maintain or restore compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Communicates with motor carriers and partners via phone, email, letter and in person.

Ensures all documentation submitted in each application is correct and complies
with NMDOT Transportation Regulation rules and statutes.

Properly enters information into databases and prepares certificates and
warrants for approval by supervisor and signature by director.

Processes changes of address and cancellations of ambulances and motor carriers in database.

Ensures that all revenue received is deposited and assists motor carriers that are subject to the Unified Carrier
Registration program.

Minimum Qualification

High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
