DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCustomer Service
  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast and friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom, and one-on-one interaction.
Product Handling & Merchandising
  • Wash and process fresh fish; trim, cut, wrap, tray, and display meat, seafood, and poultry.
  • Create effective displays for meat, poultry, and seafood; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products.
  • Weigh, wrap, and price Butcher Block products; stock and rotate meat, poultry, and seafood to ensure quality and freshness.
  • Prepare seafood salads, cheese balls, cook food samples, and steam fish products.
  • Implement promotional and seasonal displays; maintain meat cooler and freezer when required.
  • Ensure proper temperatures during all phases of preparation, display, and storage.
Inventory & Compliance
  • Control inventory to maintain adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness per division directives.
  • Maintain and organize Butcher Block case; enforce proper code dating for all products.
  • Conduct physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Monitor and control shrink; implement correct product preparation techniques.
Team Leadership
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Ensure adequate coverage and service levels; monitor productivity and evaluate performance.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
  • Identify and develop employees with high potential for advancement.
  • Initiate personnel actions (interviews, transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions).
  • Understand and execute opening and closing department procedures.
Equipment & Safety
  • Operate equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, wrapping machine, scales, tenderizer, steamer, grinder, and cutter.
  • Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
Administrative
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines (Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook).
  • Ensure compliance with department standards and requirements for quick-sale items

Pay Transparency:



Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.


  • For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
