Butcher/Cutter

The Son of a Butcher is looking to hire an experienced Butcher to add to their growing shop. Experience cutting different meats in a retail environment is a plus.

Job Summary:

Cut and trim different kinds of meat from larger portions according to specifications.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ability to identify different cuts of meat.
  • Ability to use butcher knives and scale.
  • Prepare and cut meat products according to established standards and customer preferences.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation practices in all food handling processes.
  • Monitor food quality and freshness, discarding any items that do not meet quality standards.
  • Interpret and execute instructions from management regarding product displays and promotions.
  • Assist customers with inquiries and provide recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.


Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in food handling and preparation, particularly in meat cutting.
  • Certification in food safety and sanitation (Preferred).
  • Previous experience as a chef or butcher within a retail food environment (Preferred)

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing in a cold environment.

Must be able to lift 60-80 pounds at times.
