Job Summary
The Butcher is responsible for cutting, trimming, deboning, and preparing meat products according to company standards, ensuring quality, hygiene, and customer satisfaction at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, debone, and portion meat (beef, mutton, chicken, etc.) as per customer or company requirements
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of meat products
- Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards in the work area as per food safety regulations
- Monitor meat quality and report any spoilage or inconsistencies
- Assist in receiving and inspecting meat deliveries
- Maintain proper stock rotation (FIFO system)
- Ensure correct weighing, packaging, and labeling of products
- Maintain and clean cutting tools, equipment, and workstation daily
- Follow health and safety guidelines strictly
- Support customer requests for custom cuts when required
Requirements
- Previous experience as a butcher or in meat cutting (preferred)
- Knowledge of different meat cuts and preparation techniques
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards
- Ability to handle knives and cutting equipment safely
- Physically fit to handle long hours and heavy lifting
- Basic communication skills
