Northwest Naturals, LLC (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tree Top, Inc.) is a leading supplier of fruit juice concentrates, servicing both domestic and international manufacturers for products and applications such as non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, sauces, dressings, bakery and confections.

We are currently seeking a Buyer to join our supply chain team.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Buyer identifies supply replenishment needs specified in MRP (Material Requirements Planning), SIOP (Sales Inventory Operations Planning) and IBP (Integrated Business Plan); prepares, reviews, and issues purchase orders to suppliers. Reviews production schedule; coordinates movement and delivery of purchased materials from suppliers to the plants/warehouses. Assists with production planning and managing inventory capacity for assigned plants/inventory areas while considering current inventory, obsolescence, lead times, product life cycles and production capacity. Position helps establish and maintain short and long term production, scheduling forecasts, inventory analysis and recommendations. In addition, position works as a liaison between Northwest Naturals (NWN), Tree Top, Sales and Operations at all facilities. Position monitors and controls inventory levels, expedites components as needed to keep production lines running. Resolves problems with vendors for any material defects, delivery shortages and invoice discrepancies. Sr. Buyer/Planner works to identify new sources for key raw materials that meet purchasing specifications and customer requirements at best obtainable pricing. Requests and coordinates all supplier quality and food safety documents required by NWN Quality or Tree Top Supplier Management to approve a product as orderable for purchase.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and does not supervise staff. The position works closely with Finance, AP/AR, QA, Supplier Management, Planning, Marketing, Traffic, Information Services (I.S.), Contract Manufacturing, warehouses, Tree Top plants, suppliers, and distributors.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Principles and practices of effective business communication; basic report writing methods and techniques; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Office administrative and management practices and procedures, including office equipment, record keeping and filing.
  • Principles and practices of inventory planning and tracking.
  • Principles and practices of negotiation.
  • Principles and practices of basic accounting and/or bookkeeping.
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

ABILITY TO:

  • Prepare and maintain a variety of records.
  • Adapt to rapidly changing priorities in a demanding environment. Balance daily workload requirement, focusing on priorities and critical tasks.
  • Perform basic mathematical and accounting calculations.
  • Use computers and computer software including ten-key proficiency, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Proficient in Sage X3 and Excel.
  • Previous experience with food safety and documentation.
  • Buyer/purchasing skills.
  • Negotiation skills.

EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSES, AND TRAINING:

  • A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Computer Science, Business Management, or related field is preferred, equivalent experience in lieu of a degree, or CPIM.
  • Minimum of 3 years combined experience in purchasing, production planning, and/or supply chain in a complex corporate environment.

Pay Information

Salary range: $72,200 to $108,300 annually

Target Starting Range: $72,200 to $90,200 annually

This range reflects the full pay scale for all roles within this position's grade. The actual salary offer will consider various factors, such as experience and, if applicable, location.
