Job Title: Buyer – Retail Fashion

Department: Buying / Merchandising
Reports To: Head of Merchandising / Buying Manager
Location: Ras Al Khaimah

Job Purpose:

The Buyer is responsible for selecting, purchasing, and managing fashion merchandise that aligns with the company’s brand identity and sales objectives. This role involves analyzing trends, negotiating with suppliers, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring that product assortments meet customer demands while achieving profit and margin targets.

Key Responsibilities:1. Product Selection & Buying

  • Plan, select, and purchase fashion merchandise (apparel, footwear, or accessories) for the assigned category.
  • Identify fashion trends, customer preferences, and seasonal demands to ensure relevant assortments.
  • Collaborate with design and merchandising teams to develop new collections or product ranges.
  • Maintain the right mix of products across stores and online platforms to drive sales and profitability.

2. Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain the best quality, price, and delivery terms.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors while identifying new sourcing opportunities.
  • Oversee order placements, follow-ups, and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Evaluate supplier performance regularly based on quality, reliability, and responsiveness.

3. Sales & Inventory Analysis

  • Monitor product performance, sales reports, and stock levels across stores and channels.
  • Analyze sell-through rates, margins, and stock aging to make reordering or markdown decisions.
  • Work closely with the merchandising and planning teams to optimize stock allocation and minimize overstock or shortages.

4. Market & Trend Research

  • Conduct regular market visits and competitor analysis to stay informed on current trends, pricing, and product positioning.
  • Attend fashion exhibitions, trade shows, and vendor meetings to source new styles and innovations.
  • Provide feedback to the design team on emerging trends and customer preferences.

5. Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Prepare seasonal buying budgets and ensure purchasing aligns with financial targets.
  • Achieve planned gross margins and manage markdown budgets effectively.
  • Support the finance team in monitoring purchase costs and vendor payments.

6. Cross-Department Coordination

  • Collaborate with visual merchandising, marketing, and retail operations teams to ensure consistent product presentation and promotional alignment.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for delivery follow-ups and stock distribution.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Buyer or Assistant Buyer in fashion retail.
  • Strong understanding of fashion trends, consumer behavior, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, ERP systems, and retail reporting tools.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED8,000.00 per month
