Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for identifying the best approved suppliers to meet customer requirements, negotiating favorable terms, and issuing purchase orders that accurately reflect customer needs. This role plays a critical part in supporting customer demand, manufacturing requirements, and inventory integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain quotes from vendors to support customer RFQs and bid proposals
  • Investigate, identify, and cultivate new sources for supplies and products
  • Utilize reporting tools to place purchase orders in a timely manner to support manufacturing work orders and customer sales demand
  • Monitor min/max inventory levels for assigned product lines and recommend adjustments as needed
  • Monitor and act on open purchase order reports to ensure due dates are accurate and current
  • Review on-time delivery performance and communicate corrective action requests to vendors
  • Track and manage low shelf-life material, collaborating with Sales, Operations, and Quality teams to minimize financial risk from expired material

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors degree preferred or a minimum of 3 years of direct Aerospace / Defense purchasing experience
  • Aerospace Chemicals, Hardware, and MRO purchasing experience HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent negotiation, organization, and communication skills
