Job Overview:
Detail-oriented supplier development engineer with 5+ years of experience, Supplier Development Engineers are responsible for identifying new vendors, evaluating suppliers and their quality standards, developing strategies to improve their performance, conduct audits and analyze data related to supply chain management. This covers commodities parts as well as engineered components like high Precision machining, investment and aluminum alloy Castings. Proven track record of reducing costs by 20 to 25% through improved sourcing strategies.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
  • Development & qualification of supplier product / process of newly purchased parts through the process working with Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing.
  • Support Suppliers’ processes and products development, up to successful/on-time Production of parts / Approval of processes in regards of customer needs.
  • Coordinates with engineering, manufacturing engineering, procurement and supplier quality on component quality / delivery issues and supplier initiatives to minimize the waste and control the cost, prepare monthly reports (MER).
  • Performs capability assessments with key suppliers to evaluate the application of advanced quality tools, manufacturing capabilities, material management, and lean maturity.
  • Interfaces with the suppliers' engineering, manufacturing, quality and procurement departments as well as the respective internal departments to drive cost effective manufacturing process improvements that optimize throughput and minimize waste.
  • Perform in-depth quality system assessments to confirm supplier structure, level of lean implementation, and effectiveness of the quality management system.
  • Assists in the development, approval, and maintenance of material specifications, vendor instructions, quality assurance procedures, supplier documents such as Quality Control Plans.
  • Collects and analyzes quality information from various quality systems and develops reports as needed for senior management review.
  • Review and assess supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Perform annual supplier audits as required.

Authorities:

  • Lead vendor development activity and overall responsible for smooth functioning of the job.

Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Responsibility to Visit local supplier facilities/locations on an as needed basis to improve relationships, follow up on corrective action validation and/or due to quality spill.
  • Responsibility to Negotiation and signing Quality specifications with Suppliers.
  • Responsibility to organize and lead visits/audits at Suppliers plants in case of major Quality issues.
  • Zero based costing of all commodities as per drawing & as per market price.
  • Responsibility to improve the performance and effectiveness of the IMS.
  • Audit potential and current suppliers QMS or manufacturing processes.
  • Negotiation & price finalization, On time Release of Purchase orders, Follow up for delivery.
  • Coordinating Process Audits activities within the Supplier Quality Assurance.
  • Organizing and leading regular Quality Management meetings, also performing regular technical visits to Suppliers for continuous development.
  • Responsibility to Provide support of implementation of supplier related Engineering Changes involving major product design, process, supplier changes, as needed
  • Responsibility to Assist suppliers to plan the most robust process flow to meet high quality and throughput requirement
  • Assist company to perform cost reduction program with suppliers, eliminate non-quality cost
  • Supplier assessment - Plans and conducts or ensure, supplier assessment including reporting and findings for major and minor opportunities for improvements and verifies effective closure of assessment findings by the supplier.
  • Facilitate supplier design reviews encompassing supplier design simulation, testing, and validation activities to ensure delivered quality at both the proto-type and product launch phase
  • Lead and monitor Supplier Development Planning for the commodity related suppliers, this includes quality management delivery performance and product application development
  • Project management, Review & reporting of pending RFQ, PO, Delivery.

Qualifications:
Education, Experience and Skills:
  • BE / Diploma- Mechanical/Industrial Engineering
  • Deep understanding of all machining and casting processes.
  • Minimum 5 Years of Experience
  • Vast experience with cross functional management
  • Strong negotiation and influential skills
  • Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Time Management
  • Computer skills, Well versed with MS office.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and ability to travel
  • Experience as Auditor
  • Experience of IMS / ISO quality system
  • Willing to work with people in an international environment
  • Experience in machining and component manufacturing industry
  • Strong knowledge of Production Part Approval Process.
