POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Buyer will plan, source, negotiate with, and manage suppliers to procure raw materials, components, and services necessary for production ensuring timely delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role will collaborate on sourcing decisions and select suppliers and distributors. This includes negotiation of purchase price, quality, availability, delivery, and other factors necessary to ensure the overall conformance of materials purchased to manufacturing specifications and overall company production objectives.
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Effectively communicate with the management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and report any back ordered or missing products
- Assisting the Supply Chain Manager with maintaining inventory levels and materials on a regular basis
- Manage the Purchasing process including placing PO’s, following up with vendors and updating the ERP system in timely fashion
- Developing an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders
- Effectively communicate with the management team to ensure all orders are accurate
- Evaluate and analyze category trends; manage supply risk and minimize total costs. This includes optimizing commodity strategies, forward buying, tariffs, currencies and landed cost.
- Collaborate cross functionally to understand and determine supply needs and product development / engineering and evaluation requirements in order to select the best suppliers and distributors.
- Effectively manage supplier performance for quality, price, delivery and service.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Participate in supplier business reviews.
- Team with Operations leadership in data gathering and analysis to develop short and long-term action plans for continuous improvement opportunities, initiatives and significant cost savings.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 6+ years of related automotive experience and/or training is required.
Licenses
- APICS, CPM or CPSM Certification is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience with ERP and purchase order systems ERP purchase order system experience is required. Knowledge of Plex ERP is helpful.
- MS Office 365
- Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Bi-lingual is a plus (Spanish)
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively communicate amongst all levels of the company and work with a variety of team members and suppliers.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from Accounts Payable, Receiving, Shipping, Vendors and Quality.
- Ability to understand contracts and negotiations to pricing strategies.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate & ratio.
- Ability to solve practical problems and situations with critical thinking, analysis, creativity, and communication.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required, less than 10%

Individual Contributor: Possible supervision of an assistant buyer or admin.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position is subject to sedentary work; Sedentary work involves sitting 75-80% of the time. Walking and standing are required periodically to assess warehouse space and storage areas, visually inspect inventory levels, talk to managers, supervisors, and employees. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Visual Acuity
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
