A Materials Manager, or Senior Purchasing Agent,

Oversees the company’s needs for inventory and supplies by managing vendor relationships, assessing supply needs and coordinating delivery schedules.

Their duties include training operations staff, signing purchase orders and tracking the flow of inventory through the company’s supply chain.

Directly Responsible for Purchasing, Stockroom, Shipping/ Receiving and Identification area.

Evaluating suppliers on the basis of delivery speed for their products and services, price and quality

  • Interviewing vendors and visiting suppliers to examine and learn about prices, products and services.
  • Analyzing supply base, track KPI’s for OTD.
  • Meeting with vendors and staff to discuss unacceptable and defective products and establish corrective action
  • Maintaining and reviewing records of inventories, cycle counting, organization of inventory
  • May include some negotiating of contracts for the organization and working out agreements with suppliers for product delivery

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Oversees the purchasing, production, scheduling, inventory and warehousing of materials.
  • Monitors plant inventories and purchasing activities partnering closely with operations to avoid production delays.
  • Investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies
  • Provides direction and guidance to the purchasing team and warehouse team.
  • Interviews vendors and visits suppliers to learn about prices, products, and services.
  • Analyzing supply base, track KPI’s for on time delivery and quality. Monthly reporting
  • Maintain relationships and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Performs analysis of price proposals and other information to determine reasonable pricing.
  • Working with the other departments on continuing programs to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery
  • Establishes procedures and supervises the annual physical inventory
  • Other duties and projects, as needed.

Your Qualifications Should Be…

  • Ability to lead team members
  • Customer service-oriented
  • Strong background in supply chain and inventory management systems
  • Knowledgeable of forecasting and budgeting
  • Advanced problem solving abilities
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems – (Made 2 Manage a plus)
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset
  • High school diploma, or GED. Bachelor's degree is preferred

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • 6 years of experience as a materials professional in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience must include working with an MRP system, (Made 2 Manage, strongly preferred).
  • CPIM certification, a plus.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee will occasionally be required to lift, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
