Job Summary:

The Planner/Buyer is responsible for analyzing and forecasting goods, placing purchase orders (POs) based on forecasts, communicating with international suppliers, importing goods into the USA and Canada, and working with internal departments to address issues. Additionally, the role includes ordering maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies. This position requires an elevated level of analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in a challenging environment.

Essential Job Functions

Forecasting and Analysis:

  • Analyze historical data and market trends to forecast product demand.
  • Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts to ensure inventory levels are optimized.
  • Utilize forecasting tools and software to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Upload customer forecasts into planning system.

Purchase Order Management:

  • Generate and place purchase orders based on demand forecasts and inventory levels.
  • Monitor open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any discrepancies or delays.

Supplier Communication and Management:

  • Communicate regularly with internal and external suppliers to ensure a clear understanding of requirements and expectations.
  • Address and resolve any supplier-related issues promptly.

Import and Export Coordination:

  • Manage the importation of goods into the USA and Canada, ensuring compliance with all regulations and requirements.
  • Work with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics partners to ensure smooth and timely delivery of goods.
  • Oversee all necessary documentation for import/export activities.

Cross Departmental Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Sales and Operations to address any issues or concerns that arise.
  • Provide timely updates on inventory levels, delivery schedules, and any potential supply chain disruptions.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to align business objectives and priorities.

MRO Supplies Ordering:

  • Identify and order necessary MRO supplies to support the operational needs of the company.
  • Maintain accurate records of MRO inventory and usage.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely replenishment of MRO supplies.

Skills/Requirements:

· Excellent written and verbal communication

· Ability to work independently and prioritize.

· Ability to analyze and interpret data.

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in business management preferred.

· High School Diploma or equivalent required
